Did an 8 km hike up at Buntsen Lake on Sunday.  Got some great macros.  This is the first one.  Canon EF-S 17-85mm @ 85mm.  f5.0, ISO 100, 1/500th.

In other news, I recently acquired Joss Whedon’s 20″ iMac (yes, really!) which is much better doing minor edits on photos, cropping, removing blemishes, etc.  iPhoto is far easier to work with than Photoshop, and I bought the computer for about half of what a Photoshop CS3 license would have cost.

PS: I’m not kidding, it really was Joss Whedon’s iMac!  =)

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures lately but haven’t been posting.  I was up in Alberta a couple of weekends ago, and went through Jasper National Park.  Tons of great shots, Just a matter of picking out which ones I like best.  Canon 30D, Sigma 80-400mm @400mm f5.6

Also, for iPhone users, there’s an excellent Depth Of Field calculator available at the App Store.

This was taken at sunset in Deep Bay, Vancouver Island last August.  This is the JPG I had on my mac as wallpaper, I don’t have the original RAW with me at the moment so don’t have full details, other than it was shot using a 17-85mm EF-S Canon lens.

Seagull bobbing along on wind whipped water.  The light and dark texture of the water caught my eye.  The gull was a welcome bonus.  f10.0 ISO 400 – 80-400mm @400mm

Wallace, my friend Seanna’s husband inspired me to be a little more active on the site. This has the benefit of encouraging me to get out and shoot some more and post the results.

I took this on Earth Day a couple of weeks ago. The hawk was part of the rescued birds of prey display at Everett Crowley Park. I quite like the subtle background colors. Sigma EX 80-400 zoom. f8.0 ISO 400 @ 315.0mm

No photos today, but the LOLCats video needs to be shared. The first time it’s kind of irritating, but it grows on you. Originally posted on rathergood.com with heavy apologies to Robert Smith and The Cure.
